The Map functionality within the Hub module provides an interactive, browser-based mapping application. It offers visibility of contractor coverage boundaries across UK postcode areas, Northern Ireland counties, and Republic of Ireland counties, alongside physical site locations. This allows users to quickly identify which contractors are assigned to specific geographical regions based on their service categories.

Navigation

To access the Map feature, navigate to Main Menu > Hub > Map on the left-hand sidebar navigation. The Map option is positioned directly below Documentation and above Projects.

Note: This menu option is only visible to users who have been granted the specific permission: Can View Hub - Map.

Filtering and Selecting Data

The Map features a split-panel layout consisting of a filter and summary on the left side panel and the main interactive map on the right.

To load resource data onto the map:

Navigate to the filter dropdowns.

Select the required Contractor Discipline and Tier from the dropdown menus.

The system will then update the Map and colour-code the zones on the Map according to the disciplines selected and the contractor who cover those areas.

Note: Regions that do not have an active contractor assigned to them will default to a solid grey background.

Using the Interactive Map & Side panel

Once the data loads, you can interact with the map and side panel to analyse coverage details:

Map Interactions

Hovering your mouse cursor over any standard postcode area instantly highlights the region. A hover over tooltip will display the active area code and the assigned contractor's name.

Statuses of “Unassigned” and “Not in Use” may be visible against some areas. “Unassigned” means that there is coverage required for that area but no contractor currently covers it. “Not in Use” indicates that the particular area does not have any corresponding sites or requirements for coverage.

Side panel Features

The side panel is locked to the left side of the screen and provides the following tools:

Summary of Zones and Contractors: Displays a summary of the zones and contractors that are shown by the active filters.

Legend: An list showing assigned contractors. Clicking a contractor within the legend allows you to filter the map view specifically to view their coverage areas.

Text Filter: Allows you to quickly search for specific postcodes or contractors.

Assignment Table: A scrollable table at the bottom of the side panel displaying the zones and the contractor(s) that cover those zones for the selected discipline.

Viewing Sites on the Map

You can view your site layout directly on top of the map to see which areas cover which sites.

Click the <Show Sites> button.

The system will load sites you have access to and plot them onto the map as circular markers.

Hover your mouse over any Site Marker to view a tooltip containing the Building Number, Building Name, and Building Type on individual rows of the hovered over site.

Toggle the <Show Sites> button again to hide the markers.

Exporting & Printing the Map

To generate a physical or digital copy of the current map view:

Click the <Export PDF> button.

The system will then download the Map to a PDF format, allowing you to view the Map offline at any time.
