The Device Manager is a feature in the Ostara System that allows for the management of mobile phones, that are using the Ostara Mobile App. Within the  Device Manager, users can view all devices associated to their Contractor, and can carry out two actions: clearing the registered name, and deactivating mobile devices.

The  Device Manager should be used, when there is a need to change/remove mobile devices. This includes, but is not limited to when:
•    An employee leaves the company, and their phone needs to be given to someone else
•    An employee leaves who was using their own phone leaves the company
•    An employee loses or damages their phone

How to Access the ‘Device Manager’

To locate, navigate to Avatar Menu > Mobile Device Management > Device List in your Nexus Portal.

This then returns a list of all mobile devices that have been associated to you as a Contractor, along with the device’s associated details.

Device Manager Actions

Within the Device Manager, there are two main actions available: clearing the device registered name, and deactivating the mobile device. The scenario you are facing will determine which action should be used:

Your employee has left, and his company device needs to be issued to another engineer: In this case, the <Clear Device Registered Name> should be used. This will ensure the device remains active and associated with the Ostara System, but removes the previous employee’s name, and the new employee will be prompted to enter their name in the Ostara Mobile App instead.

Note: if the device is still logged in when the registered name is cleared, it may take up to an hour for the mobile device to reauthenticate and ask the new employee for their name. If the Ostara Mobile App is logged out of, and logged back into, the user will be prompted for their name immediately.

Your employee has left, and was using their own device: In this case, the <Deactivate> option should be used. This will prevent the device from accessing the Ostara System.

Note: If done by mistake, the device can be reactivated if required.

Permissions: Can Edit Mobile Device, Can Edit Mobile Device Clear Registered Name
